From 1870 to 1878 the people of Beyer Settlement conducted services in the Public School House. In 1876 they purchased land alongside
the school to build a church. In February 1878 the pastor and assembly organized itself into a congregation and took on the name of
St. Katherine’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In August of 1898, the congregation decided to buy an acre of land for a parsonage. In 1899, after completing the parsonage, school was held in the kitchen. In November 1912, the congregation decided to build a new church building. The work was completed in August 1913 and on the 17th of August worship was held in the new church. In 1925 electricity was installed in the church and the parsonage. In 1928 a pipe organ was dedicated for use in the service and water works were built in the parsonage. In 1939 Electricity from R.E.A. was upgraded in the church and parsonage. In 1947 the Congregation added one-half acre of land to the cemetery. In November 1963 the Ladies Aid paid for the installation of running water into the church, the water was pumped from the well at the parsonage. In July 1977 new carpet was put in the church and the congregation voted to install bathrooms in the basement of the church.
From 1977 to 2001 there were very few changes or improvements made to the Church itself.
In 2002 The Church was insulated and the wiring was upgraded. In 2003 the church was painted and old boards repaired. In 2003 new carpeting was installed upstairs, the front chair and kneeling altar were also reupholstered. In 2009 a well for the church was dug and a new plumbing system was designed. At that time the basement was also remodeled and re-carpeted. The parsonage was sold in 2010 and a new PA system was put in the church in 2011. The parking lot was also enlarged and a front sign was put in the parking lot to be able to announce church activities. In 2013 the church was sided and a new metal roof was put on the church and steeple. At that time a new front door was installed and the headers were replaced. In 2014 the old cement front steps were removed and new cement front steps were poured.
